After a minor hold up with customs, my new book has arrived in Australia, and is now officially out in the wild and available to buy in bookstores. My author copies arrived a couple of days ago in the post, and it was so exciting to see the book for the first time in hard copy. I'm thrilled with how it has turned out. I got to see a pdf version of the book a few months ago, but there is something about seeing your book in hard copy for the first time that is really special. Don't offer me a kindle, I am, and always will be, a hard copy gal.
Tonight I am prepping for an author event tomorrow called Romancing the Stars. I'm preparing to speak about the book to groups of local teachers and librarians, and that means thinking about how the story could work in the classroom. Having a young baby and a toddler means that preparing for author events is difficult and prep time is eating into precious sleep, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm excited to get some feedback about the story and to see how it lands. I'm also excited to chat with other local authors and buy their new books.
In other news, I am also preparing for my book launch which is happening this Sunday, at Where the Wild Things Are Bookshop at West End in Brisbane. I haven't really thought too much about it yet - but I have bought a whole heap of construction merchandise to throw around the bookstore. I've focused on the important things, clearly.
I've done a quick reread of this post, and it's a bit clunky. But I'm tired friends, you understand right? Plus, if I worried about the words too much, this blog would become much less fun. I will be back with more soon, promise.
