Yesterday my sister and I went to see Marian Keyes talk about her latest book, My Favourite Mistake. When I read Marian's first book, Watermelon in my twenties, I discovered I could like adult books as well as children and young adult books. Her voice is so authentic, relatable and hilarious, and no surprises - this is what she was like in real life too.

I so admire her for her honesty. She has been thrown some pretty tough challenges in life, from alcoholism to severe depression, and she has tackled these things openly and without shame. As a psychologist, I know the power of people like Marian sharing their experiences. Her reach goes well beyond the words she writes on a page.
If you haven't read any of Marian's books, go and buy some or borrow them from the library. Then, listen to her speak about her life (Mamamia's No Filter podcast has a couple of episodes with Marian). It's like catching up with a lovely friend for coffee. Enjoy!
